The Relational

Unblock the conversation you need to be having.

Everything we experience is a conversation. Not just the literal ones we have with other people, but the ones we have with our bodies, our assumptions, our histories, the space we move through, the stories we carry.

We are always in relation and we are always in exchange. The question is whether we are paying attention to it and its effects on the quality of our lives.

What is it?

The Relational is an independently developed conversational practice. It operates at the intersection of self-narrative, identity and embodiment: the place where what you know meets who you actually are.

It weaves together conscious, deliberate attention to the conversations each of us are having with the main features of our lives: our relationships, money, language, our bodies, our conscience, the environment and our essence.

By restoring our own sovereignty in these domains, we improve the nature of every conversation we are in and live more fully and intentionally.

There is no promise in a book
or a god on a billboard,
but only the conversation
we are always in.

The Shape of the Work

I lead our journey through the Relational by drawing on philosophy, embodiment practices, mythology, as well as selected literature and poetry to work with across three dimensions of human experience:

The Conversation

What surfaces when we stop performing certainty and start saying the thing that actually needs to be said. Working with the quality of exchange between yourself and everything you are in relation with.

The Practice

Working with authentic embodiment, presence and the body's intelligence. The mind thinks it knows, but the body knows it knows. Identifying difficult questions and points of ongoing resistance.

The Shift

Moving from reaction to authorship. Re-storying what no longer serves you. Stripping back to what is essential and finding a practice to support modelling it. Authenticity as reduction.

The Principles

When we work together using the tools of the Relational, our progress is grounded in a set of commitments, which include:

Who This Is For

This work is for individuals who are seeking more from their lives, as I was. These are founders, leaders, parents, creatives and people in transition, who sense that the next version of themselves is not going to arrive through another strategy, framework or productivity hack.

You might be carrying a question you have stopped asking. You might be performing a version of yourself that used to fit but no longer does. You might simply want to have the conversation you have been avoiding.

The future belongs to those who can enrich not only their minds, but their hearts. When you show up because you have accepted yourself beyond identity, you do your best work. You create from inner strength, not fleeting trends. The journey is inside, not outside.

Cristian Frunze
"As my mentor, Alex listened to me with a lot of intention and guided me in my choices. I really appreciated working with him and recommend other mentees to consider his insights as well, especially regarding building audience trust and relationships."

Gord Kagel
"His posts here speak wonderfully to his holistic approach to business and life, and I am honoured (and a better person) to be his friend and to be working with him. Thank you, Alex!"

How It Works

The Relational is a three-month engagement. We meet weekly online for 60-75 minutes to build a relational practice together over 12 weeks.

There is no curriculum. Each journey is shaped by the conversation itself. The aim is self-sustainability: not dependence on a practitioner, but the capacity to hold your own conversations with greater honesty, presence and clarity.

What you can expect:

The Book

The Relational is also a growing body of written work. I am currently exploring these ideas in an upcoming book, to be released in 2027. The writing draws on the same well as the practice: philosophy, poetry, embodiment, lived experience, and extends the conversation beyond the one-to-one setting.

The Writing

Much of The Relational lives in writing. I explore these ideas through essays, poetry and longform pieces that sit alongside the practice itself. If you want to understand how I think before we talk, start here.
